It’s that time of year again, where millions of people are preparing themselves for the start of a new year and where new fitness resolutions are set with the hopes of improving your life, getting in shape, being more active and healthy!

The question is always the same, how to stick to our new fitness resolutions? How to make them achievable?

Get yourself a pen and paper; I’ve put together a guide to ensure that your resolutions are achievable, sustainable and most importantly, enjoyable! LET’S MAKE 2022 THE BEST YEAR EVER!

Write it down. What exactly do you want to accomplish? Is there a specific amount of weight you want to lose? Lift more? A race you wish to complete? Name it, and post it somewhere where you will see it every day.

Set up smaller goals. Set small and realistic goals for yourself and then build momentum. Always celebrate any accomplishment you reach and increase the difficulty of your goals!

Forgive yourself. You will sometimes fail. You are only human. You will go through spurts of overeating, not exercising, or otherwise letting yourself down. The key is to forgive yourself and get back on your fitness routine.

Learn A New Activity. Whether it’s a Pilates, Yoga session or tennis lesson, try to acquire a new activity-related skill this year. It’s absorbing, fun and ultimately more rewarding than more of the same old, same old! Giving something new a try will force your brain and body to master new motor patterns.

Drink More Water. In addition to staying well-hydrated, drinking up to eight glasses of water a day will help you get clearer skin, feel more energised, and lose weight. Start by simply bringing a refillable bottle to keep at work, and opt for water when dining out.

Eat More Fruit. Fruit can more easily replace refined sugar when cravings hit, so start stocking up your fridge and getting your blender ready.

Get More Sleep.   Getting better sleep has several benefits, from having more energy to boosting immunity. Take steps to get to bed earlier at night, from winding down with yoga to banishing electronics from your bedroom.
